I was at the university of blind love and black poetry and it was there I found you.

Since I'm sitting here scanning the 20 common amino acids and doing nothing other than watching MXC (If I were asked on the street what it stands for I would so know it, even if there is one letter missing in the abbreviation) I decided I would also update. This entry is dedicated to The Frames and everyone who has ever wondered why I talk about them so much.

Let's play seven degrees of separation from The Frames, but really it is more like one degree and does not relate them to any particular person. So lets do this in list form.

1. Glen Hansard, lead singer of The Frames is in the movie called The Commitments. It's about this guy in Ireland who puts together a soul (?) band. Glen plays Outspan Foster, the guitar player with the long and very curly hair seen here:

This is what he looks like now:

Also this is Colm, the fiddle player of The Frames, in the movie (pictured in front of the twin sisters of the boy who makes the band, "can we have money for drinks and crisps?"):

2. One of the back up singers of The Commitments is also in Pulp Fiction and wearing a Frames shirt during the needle in the heart scene:

3. John Carney, an ex-Frames member directed On the Edge starring hot hot Cillian Murphy, star of 28 Days Later:

This movie is really good even if you don't watch it solely for the Frames reference.

4. Some unknown graphic artists made a video called A Mission From God which stars Glen Hansard,:

God, Mark Geary, Josh Ritter, the guy from Snow Patrol, and some other Irish musicians. God steals Glen's harmonica and in order for him to get it back he has to put on a benefit concert. Or something to that effect. "And then I was in me girlfriend's back yard under a bush... D For the dog was there...and then I was playing a gig at the Sin-e with the err Jeff Buckley..." Either way it's really really funny but only if you know most of these people well enough to understand the references. This is how we know Mark Geary:

and why we went to see him at NXNE and also why we almost named our cat The Gingerman. Telling him about the Mission From God video and our cat and Glen Hansard is pretty much why we spent most of the night drinking and seeing Matt Mays with him:

This is a really good picture considering we were on the raised bar part of Lee's. Yay digital zoom.

5. Mark Geary's relation opened Sin-E in New York City which is were he lives now. As in Jeff Buckley: Live at Sin-E. This has led to Mark Geary playing with and being friends with Jeff Buckley.

6. Before Jeff Buckley ever played his own music he toured with The Frames as their guitar tech.

7. Will Hawkins:

who was also involved in the little Mark Geary after-party also lives in New York and has also played with and was friends with Jeff Buckley. Which brings my interconnected Frames relations to an end and rounds the number of people I have met who were close friends with and played with Jeff Buckley to three. (For some reason, Will does not look like he does now in the pictures on his website. He is so much more indie rocker now.)
